The "Nouveau Salon des Cent" portfolio
consists of 100 posters created by 100 of the best graphic designers
of our time, from 24 different countries including China, Japan,
Mexico, Brazil, Zimbabwe, the United-States and most of the European
countries, as a tribute to Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, for the Centenary
of his death, 1901-2001. Initiated by the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum
Partners' Club and iIn cooperation with the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum
of Albi. The printing was limited to only 380. The posters have
been exhibited in major museums and galleries around the world.
Seymour Chwast (born August 18, 1931) an American
graphic designer, illustrator, and type designer.
He
was born in Bronx, New York, August 18, 1931 and graduated with
a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cooper Union in 1951. Milton Glaser,
Edward Sorel, and he founded Push Pin Studios in 1954. The award-winning
bi-monthly publication The Push Pin Graphic was a product of their
collaboration.
Chwast
is famous for his commercial artwork, which includes, posters, food
packaging, magazine covers, and publicity art. Often referred to
as "the left-handed designer," Chwast's unique graphic
design melded social commentary and an innovative approach to photography.
He is thought of as a key American designer who, along with Herb
Lubalin and Tibor Kalman, influenced Howard Milton.
He
is the font designer of Chwast Buffalo, Fofucha, Loose Caboose NF,
and Weedy Beasties NF.
He
is a member of Alliance Graphique International (AGI). |
